For the final opus in the second season of the New Generation Piano series, the Fondation Louis Vuitton has invited the young Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki to perform.
At just 15 years of age, Jan Lisiecki signed an exclusivity contract with the Deutsch Gramophone label for his first album, given over to Mozart piano concertos with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Christian Zacharias.
Stéphane Tétreault (Canada) and Joona Pulkkinen (Finland) are both graduates of the second season of Gautier Capuçon's Cello Masterclass at the Fondation Louis Vuitton. In February 2015 Tedi Papavrami was guest artist at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in a masterly interpretation of Bach’s complete Sonatas and Partitas.
He returns in June 2016 with the second leg of this cycle of works for solo violin in a highly virtuoso programme centred on Paganini’s Capricci and Ysaÿe’s Sonatas. His recordings of the latter in 2014 received a ‘solo instrumentalist’ Diapason d’Or for the year, as well as a Choc Classica award.
Combining circus arts, music, singing and visual arts, in a dialogue between Western and African culture, this multidisciplinary project brings together talents from different backgrounds and disciplines in experimental productions, designed on the basis of constant exchange at all levels between its three founders.
Considered by his peers as the rising star of the piano, Benjamin Grosvenor has already won ‘Young Artist of the Year’ and an ‘Instrumental Award’ from Gramophone magazine, and a ‘Young Talent’ Diapason d’Or. Four years later, last September, he appeared at the no less prestigious Last Night.
For the Fondation Louis Vuitton Benjamin Grosvenor proposes a programme centred on Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin, with pieces by Mendelssohn and Chopin’s sonata no. 2 in the first part, and concluding with Liszt’s Venezia e Napoli.
