Akram Zaatari

Born in 1966, in Saida (Lebanon)

Lives and works in Beyrouth (Lebanon)

A founding member of the Arab Image Foundation, Akram Zaatari’s work examines the history of Lebanon and its border conflicts.

His films and video installations make use of archive images, personal stories and situations that represent everyday life in his country. Switching between reality and fiction, Zaatari highlights the construction of history and the images used to document it. His films feature instruments and mechanisms of representation such as an editing screen, a prompter and the artist's own hands, assembling notes.
