Douglas Gordon first experimented with physical attacks on images in his series "Blind Stars" (2002): portraits of famous actors that he “blinded” by removing their eyes.

In Burnt and scored and scorched (2011) he repeats the exercise. This time it is not images that are altered, but a musical score, Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in E flat major for violin, viola and orchestra, k.364. The pages are burnt away to reveal a mirror. This sets up a relationship between the past (the score), the present (the reflection) and the possible future (the performance of the music), which relates directly to the film K.364 (2010).
