Open Space is a programme dedicated to the most contemporary expressions of creativity, which invites national and international artists to create site-specific projects. Open Space takes place regularly in different settings around Frank Gehry’s building.
Matt Copson works in multidisciplinary, hybrid forms, drawing on British popular culture, from urban legends and mediaeval fables to comic strips and cartoons, from grunge to punk. His dreamlike, sometimes comical world, tinged with dark humour and irony, is filled with fantastical characters, anthropomorphic figures and amazing animals, particularly foxes and birds.
For Open Space, Matt Copson has created Blorange (2018), a new immersive installation composed of three monumental laser projections accompanied by a soundtrack, in which a teenager recites a monologue: part poem, part manifesto.
