Classes d'excellence de violoncelle - Gautier CapuçonPromotion I : December 2014 - June 2015

The "Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle", under the direction of Gautier Capuçon, is geared towards six young cellists at the end of their studies or who have recently graduated from a “conservatoire national supérieur” (or its international equivalent) and are starting their professional career. These musicians, selected on the basis of an application dossier and live audition, will be given the privilege to work on a musical program with Gautier Capuçon and other occasional professional guests of the project.

The aim of this “Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle” is to give six participants the chance to deepen their musical training and explore various issues concerning today’s professional musician.  Beginning in December 2014, the class will meet on a monthly basis at the Fondation Louis Vuitton for a series of three-day sessions. Each session will close with a one and a half hour  public concert, during which time participants will have the opportunity to present their work. Sessions focused on career-related issues will also be organised under the tutelage of Gautier Capuçon, featuring specialists and other professionals in the field. At the end of the season, on 13 and 14 June 2015, two closing sessions will be presented to the public at the Auditorium of the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

The “Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle”, which will consist of a series of artistic and professional coaching sessions, offers participants a comprehensive training opportunity intended to complement participants’ formal musical education. Gautier Capuçon, as mediator and mentor, will encourage exchange and innovation, and will accompany each participant in his or her personal artistic journey.

As part of the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s mission to promote artistic creation in all its different forms and media, the “Classe d’Excellence de Violoncelle” aims to expose its participants to a wide array of genres, to encourage dialogue and encounters with guest speakers from different cultures and nationalities, and to bring awareness to a wide range of different styles and projects.  During their time at the Fondation, which will be spent alongside great artists and talented professionals, participants will have the opportunity to develop their individual projects, to explore and appreciate the subtleties of a career as a performing artist, and to be exposed to new musical and  otherwise artistic perspectives.

The presentation of the 6 "lauréats" will be on line on november, 26th.
