New Piano Generation : Ryan Wang
At 15 years old, Wang is set to embark on a most promising career, which began at a very young age: he gave his first recital at Carnegie Hall when he was only 5 years old.
But age means nothing when it comes to talent, and his ambitious programme is clear evidence of that. As well as some of the finest works by Liszt and Chopin, which require as much expression as virtuoso dexterity, Wang also presents a reduction of Ravel’s stunning ballet La Valse, renowned to be devilishly difficult. Alongside these musical monuments, the young pianist performs pieces by Haydn. The Fondation is delighted to bring audiences an opportunity to discover the delicate poetry and unsettling beauty of these wonderful compositions.
The programme:
- Joseph Haydn Sonate n°60, en do majeur, Hob. XVI:50
- Franz Liszt Réminiscences de Norma S.394
- Frédéric Chopin Trois Mazurkas, op. 59
- Frédéric Chopin Nocturne, op. 62, n°1
- Frédéric Chopin Ballade n°4, op. 52
- Maurice Ravel La Valse
