As part of its Piano nouvelle génération cycle, for its first concert of 2016 the Fondation Louis Vuitton is pleased to invite the young pianist Jean-Paul Gasparian.

At only 20, Jean-Paul Gasparian has already performed solo recitals and at orchestral concerts in the Zürich Tonhalle, Die Glocke in Bremen, the Salzburg Mozarteum, and at the Museum of Modern Art, Tel Aviv. In 2014 he won the prestigious Bremen European Piano Contest (Germany).

At the Fondation Louis Vuitton, Jean-Paul Gasparian will perform two warhorses of the piano repertory: Chopin’s 24 Preludes and Rachmaninoff’s nine Etudes-tableaux.

Jean-Paul Gasparian

Born in 1995 in Paris to musician parents, he was unanimously admitted to the CNSM in Paris at just 14, before carrying off his Master’s with brio in 2015. His teachers included Olivier Gardon, Jacques Rouvier, Michel Béroff, Laurent Cabasso, Bertrand Chamayou, and Tatiana Zelikman, as well as Claire Désert, François Salque, and Michel Strauss for chamber music. Winner of the renowned Bremen European Piano Contest in 2014, he was also prizewinner at competitions in Lyon and Hastings (England) in 2013. Obtaining the 2014 prize from the Fondation Cziffra, in 2013 he also won the First Prize for Philosophy at the Concours Général, a competitive exam open to all high school students in France.

Among the orchestras with which he has performed as a soloist, mention should be made of the Bremer Philharmoniker, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the Orquesta Symphónica de Murcia, Rouen Opéra, the Orchestre Régional de Basse Normandie, La Garde Républicaine, the Orchestre Symphonique de Caen, and the Orchestre de l’Alliance, playing concertos by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, and Gershwin.

He has performed solo and with orchestras at the Salle Gaveau and Salle Cortot (Paris), the Zürich Tonhalle, at Die Glocke in Bremen, the Salzburg Mozarteum, and the Museum of Modern Art in Tel Aviv, and in addition at festivals such as the “Flâneries” in Reims (broadcast live on, the “Piano Folies” at Le Touquet, the Festival Chopin at the Parc de Bagatelle, the Nohant Festival Chopin, at the Nancyphonies, as well as on Gaëlle Le Gallic’s Génération Jeunes Interprètes radio programme on France Musique. Notable future projects include Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto in Belgrade and in Spain (October 2015), a recital at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris (January 2016), a recital tour of Germany (October 2015), and a tour with the Orchestre de Basse Normandie with Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto (February 2016).
