"Rose II" (2007) is the second version of a metal rose originally conceived by Isa Genzken between 1993 and 1997 for the city of Leipzig.

With its spectacular scale, the piece turns what is normally a personal act of giving into a gesture aimed at an entire community. The contrast between the natural subject matter and the steel, which is lacquered like a car, sets up an opposition between the traditional values associated with these two aspects.
