Oliver Beer: Composition For a New Museum
Performance

Gallery 8 will be transformed into a musical instrument,  as three singers placed at each of its corners cause the space to vibrate. Following a score written by the artist beforehand, the choir singers will continuously  activate the frequencies and resonances of the building of which they are a part using only their voices. Combining the material and the immaterial, the visible and the invisible, Composition for a New Museum presents itself as an immersive architectural experience.

With the collaboration of Les Cris de Paris – directed by Geoffroy Jourdain

Oliver Beer (1985) lives and works in Kent (United Kingdom) and Paris (France).

Olivier Beer

Beer is a trained visual artist and musician and a graduate of Oxford University's Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art. Beer is particularly interested in the relationships between sound and space. Since 2007 he has been designing performances where choirs reveal the acoustic properties of pre-existing architectural spaces. Beer's work has been presented at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2012) and the MoMA PS1 in New York (2014).
