Fabrice Hyber

Born in the Vendée in 1961, Fabrice Hyber studied mathematics for two years before enrolling at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes. A prolific artist, he draws his inspiration from nature and living things. The forest that Fabrice Hyber is cultivating in the heart of the Vendée countryside is an integral part of his work and his life, whilst the human dimension is central to many of his projects, from his collaboration with the Pasteur Institute in 2010 to commissions in public spaces: L’Artère – le jardin des dessins, in the Parc de La Villette, raises awareness of HIV whilst serving as a space for movement and life; Le Cri, l’Ecrit, in the heart of the Jardin du Luxembourg, commemorates the abolition of slavery. His Homme de Bessines – little green figures from which water spouts from bodily orifices – have been installed since 1991 in towns and cities across France and abroad.
