Silent Score, 1997, is the transcription of John Cage’s 1952 piece 4’33 “in flute sonata obtained by a computer program of transcription. We remember that Cage’s idea was to "play" a few minutes of silence by musicians who thus let the sound of the environment resonate. The space between the transcription and the imagined music of the flute is thus put in the foreground. In the exhibition "Celebration Park" at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, five neons were presented as a prologue, "disclaimers," says the artist, including I Do Not Own 4’ 33 “, 2006. It is a matter of allowing oneself to have content that does not belong to the person who puts it into circulation through a contradictory movement of meaning: "I do not possess 4’ 33" is indeed a way of taking over someone else’s creation for one’s own use.
