The video takes us into a zany world somewhere between infancy and adulthood. A random mix of technical, musical, and literary referencs peopled by weird characters in a stimulatingly garish setting.

Young New York artist whose collection already includes a work (Tommy Chat Just E-Mailed Me, 2006), Ryan Trecartin will be the subject of an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in the city of Paris next October.

In a series of videos gathered under the generic title Any Ever, the artist stages a unique and personal universe where, in a playful and delirious atmosphere, young people engage in various situations that borrow as much from advertisements and television series as from new modes of expression and communication. With a sharp sense of derision, Trecartin casts a humorous and ironic gaze on a society with no other goal than the aggressive consumption of material goods.
