On 10 April, following Rémi Géniet in December and Georgy Tchaidze in January, the series of New Generation Piano recitals is to feature Alexej Gorlatch, the symbol of an emerging generation of exceptional pianists. At just 26 years old, Kiev-born Gorlatch has already performed in the world's greatest concert venues, such as New York's Carnegie Hall, London's Wigmore Hall, the Konzerthaus in Berlin and the Great Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie.
As a soloist he has been the guest of prestigious orchestras, ranging from the Hallé in Manchester, to the Stuttgart Radio Symphony, the Camerata Salzburg, the RTE National Symphony Ireland and the greatest Japanese orchestras.
He garnered the Public Prize as well as several special prizes during the International ARD Music Competition. This prize came on the heels of his nine first prizes in the most renowned piano competitions.
For his recital at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, Alexej Gorlatch has chosen a programme that travels through the centuries, from Beethoven's Sonata No. 31 to a 2011 composition of Lera Auerbach, and from Stravinsky's Piano Sonata in F-sharp minor to Chopin's Sonata No. 2.
