For France’s autumn school holidays, the Fondation is transforming the Auditorium into a relaxation and entertainment area for all ages. Before or after visiting the Gerhard Richter exhibition, take a break at the pop-up Café Éphémère and watch a screening of Corinna Belz’s film, Gerhard Richter Painting (Berlin, zero one film, 2011). Together, visit the dedicated family area, open non-stop during Fondation hours, and enjoy a selection of children’s books and activities related to the exhibition. Our Cultural Guides will also lead interesting group activities throughout the day, such as discovery tours and art workshops.

Workshops

Every day in the Auditorium between 2 pm and 6 pm

Roll the coloured cubes, tossing them like dice, to create your grid, just like Gerhard Richter’s “1024 Colors”! This fun, creative workshop encourages children to experiment with colour combinations by playing with coloured cubes, then creating grids with markers, discovering how Richter used happenstance in his creative process. Younger children are invited to experiment with colour at their own pace.

Gerhard Richter Painting
A film directed by Corinna Belz
© 2011 zero one film Berlin:

To spread the exhibition’s message further, the Fondation is showing the documentary Gerhard Richter Painting every day during the school holidays. In 2009, Gerhard Richter opened his studio to director Corina Belz, who filmed the creation of a series of large-scale abstract paintings. The documentary is a testament to the physical demands of this contemporary artist’s work.
