At the crossroads of music, graphics, video and performance, Kraftwerk, founded in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider, appeared on the art scene in Düsseldorf (Germany) and has marked the musical landscape with its influence on styles as diverse as electro, hip hop, pop and techno. Greatly influenced by the industrial world and modern technology, Kraftwerk's minimalist compositions are created and programmed by computer using electronic instruments and robotic voices. In January 2014, Ralf Hütter and his former partner were honoured with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

After performing at MoMA (New York) in 2012, Tate Modern (London) in 2013, and the Kunstmuseum (Düsseldorf) in 2014, Kraftwerk will perform its entire body of work in the auditorium of the Fondation over the course of eight consecutive evenings: THE CATALOGUE 12345678, synchronised with a spectacular projection of 3D images. 1 AUTOBAHN (1974), 2 RADIO-ACTIVITY (1975), 3 TRANS EUROPE EXPRESS (1977), 4 THE MAN-MACHINE (1978), 5 COMPUTERWORLD (1981), 6 TECHNO POP (1986), 7 THE MIX (1991), 8 TOUR DE FRANCE (2003). Each concert will also feature compositions from their other albums.

Appearing as imperturbable automatons against a backdrop of vibrantly coloured pop-art-inspired graphics and generating a dynamic tonality and mechanical rhythms that clash on an audiovisual level, Kraftwerk expresses the contradictions of modern life for the "man-machine".
