Morozov Short Tours

Special short tours are available to learn more about the works of the Morozov Collection. Each week has its own theme: “The role of women in the Collection”, until March 13th; “The Morozovs and Shchukin, a collector’s life”, from March 14th to 20th; “The artistic scandals of the time”, from March 21st to 27th; and “Our mediators’ top picks”, from March 28th to April 3rd. A focus on the women of the Morozov family, as well as female artists, patrons and models who left their mark on the Morozov collection.

How did rich families of Russian industrials such as the Morozovs and Shchukin dominate the cultural life of Moscow in the early 20th century, invent the concept of artistic philanthropy, and contribute to the international renown of modern French painters? 

An historical approach to the works in the Collection through the criticisms that were aimed at artistic movements (Fauvism, Impressionism, etc.) or artists (Matisse, Cézanne, etc.) of the time; or how the avant-gardes and pictorial revolutions led to turmoil and challenged the traditional aesthetic conventions.
