Anna Fedorova

Anna Fedorova was born into a family of musicians in 1990 in Kiev, Ukraine, where she began to study piano at the age of five. Since then she has demonstrated an innate musical maturity and stunning technical abilities that have dazzled audiences around the world. Critics have compared Ms. Fedorova’s musical style to that of Alicia de Larrocha and Martha Argerich and were impressed by her “sweet modesty and wild expression,” that rendered listeners “completely taken by surprise, compelled and astonished.”

Anna Fedorova’s extensive concert career has taken her to the most prestigious halls of Europe, North and South America, and Asia. Among them are more than a dozen times at the Grote Zaal of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw, The Palacio de Bellas Artes and Sala Nezahualcoyotl in Mexico City, the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, The Great Gall of the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Warsaw Filharmonia, the Warsaw Opera Theater, the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, and many others.    

Among the numerous prestigious music festivals that Anna Fedorova has performed at are the International Keyboard Festival & Institute in New York, the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Festival in Lodz, the International Piano Festival in Trieste, the Orpheum Music Festival in Zurich, and others.

In March, 2009 Anna performed the Dutch premiere of the Rachmaninoff/Warenberg 5th Piano Concerto (arr. of Rachmaninoff’s 2nd symphony) in Concertgebouw Amsterdam with the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra under Martin Panteleev. The concert was a great success; later that year she performed the Mexican premier with the OFUNAM orchestra under Alun Francis. In November the Argentinian premier followed with the OFBA under Alejo Perez.

Her recent tours included appearances as soloist with the Orquestra Filarmonica de Buenos Aires with conductor Alejo Perez, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne under Howard Griffiths, the Philharmonia of the Nations under Justus Franz, the OFUNAM under Alun Francis, the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de Mexico with conductors Carlos Miguel Prieto and Shinik Hahm who also accompanied her with the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, the Slovak Sinfonietta under Martin Panteleev, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine under Volodymyr Sirenko, the Orkiestra Symfoniczna Filharmonii Szczecinskiej, and many others.

In 2008 Anna Fedorova graduated from the Lysenko Musical College for Gifted Children (Kiev, Ukraine, class of prof. Boris Fedorov). She was the recipient of “The President of the Ukraine Scholarship” during 2003-2008. Since 2008 she is a student of Prof. Leonid Margarius at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale di Imola “Incontri col Maestro”.

Anna Fedorova is the winner of 14 international piano competitions including a First Prize at the International Rubinstein In Memoriam piano competition (Poland 2009), the “Prix Denis Antoine” AVC Charity Foundation at the Piano Campus (Pontoise 2012), 2nd prize at the Frederick Chopin competition in Narva (Estonia), 1st prize at the Tbilissi International Young Pianists competition in Georgia, where she also received the Special Prize "Best Pianist of the Competition," the Dorothy McKenzie awards at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival (NY, USA 2006, 2007, 2008), the Second Prize and Special Prize of the Institute of Frederick Chopin at the Fourth Moscow International Frederick Chopin Competition for young pianists.

Highlights from Anna Fedorova's past year include performances in Japan with the Tokyo New City Orchestra, in the Great Hall of the Tonhalle of Zurich with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne (conductor Howard Griffiths), and solo recitals at the Warsaw Filharmonia, the Warsaw National Opera, the Paris Salle Cortot, and the Great Hall of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.

Anna Fedorova won the Public Prize and 3rd Prize at Lyon’s International piano competition (July 2012). In Verbier Academy 2012, Anna was chosen for a masterclass with Alfred Brendel and won The 2012 Verbier Academy award.

The two last seasons were very important for Anna with numerous recitals and concerts in Poland, the Netherlands, Mexico, Switzerland, and France with performances in Paris-Vincennes (Nov.), Musikdorf Ernen Festival Zurich, the Chopin Festival-Antonin, Carnegie Hall New York. Pontoise-France, Lyon and numerous summer festivals…

In 2014, Anna Fedorova released a new CD dedicated to Brahms, Chopin and Liszt on DiscAnnecy record label. A lot of concerts and recitals followed in France (Paris, Théâtre de l’Athénée, sold out), Great-Britain, Germany, The Netherlands and Brazil. 2015 was an exciting and tremendous year with almost 100 concerts (solo, chamber and orchestra) and 2016 will be a highlight of a promising career with various and numerous concerts in London, Paris and the major cities of the world with the finest orchestras and conductors.

To be noted: more than 8 million viewers have watched Anna’s interpretation of Rachmaninov’s Piano concerto 2 on Youtube recorded live at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw: a unique performance in classical music. Rachmaninov Cto 3 is now available.

Anna Fedorova will play this concerto in Paris at Theatre des Champs-Elysées in January 2017 and will perform a recital at Fondation Louis Vuitton in March 2017.
