New Generation Piano Recital – Beatrice Rana

Beatrice Rana performs regularly at the world’s most esteemed concert halls and festivals including Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, Konzerthaus and Musikverein in Vienna, Tonhalle Zurich, Konzerthaus Berlin, Kölner Philharmonie, the Verbier Festival, Ferrara Musica, Festival de la Roque-d’Anthéron, Festival de Pâques d’Aix en Provence, Les Rencontres musicales d’Evian, the Lugano Festival, La Scala in Milan, Prinzregententheater, Munich Philharmonic and Herkulessaal, and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

She collaborates with some of the world’s foremost conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Antonio Pappano, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Fabio Luisi, Gianandrea Noseda, Zubin Mehta, Osmo Vänskä, Fabien Gabel, Lahav Shani, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Susanna Mälkki, Leonard Slatkin, Roger Norrington, James Conlon, Emmanuel Krivine, Yuri Temirkanov, Jun Märkl, Trevor Pinnock, Mirga Graþinytë-Tyla, Yutaka Sado; and with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, National Orchestra of France, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Santa Cecilia National Academy Orchestra, La Scala, RAI National Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Tonkünstler Orchestra of Vienna.

The 2017/2018 season marks her recital debut in the main hall of Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in the Piano Masters series. She will reunite with the Kölner Philharmonie, performing at prestigious venues such as the Munich Philharmonic, will play for the first time with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of France. During summer 2017, she will reunite with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, will play for the first time at the BBC Proms with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and at the Mostly Mozart Festival at New York’s Lincoln Center under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda.

In 2017, Beatrice released on the Warner Classics label her magnificent interpretation of The Goldberg Variations, which she played on the greatest stages of the world (Wigmore Hall, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Herbst Theater in San Francisco, Konzerthaus Berlin, Toppan Hall in Tokyo, Casa da Musica in Porto, Santa Cecilia Hall, Flagey, Festival de Pâques d’Aix en Provence).

In November 2015 her first album with Warner Classics devoted to Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and to Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, accompanied by Santa Cecilia National Academy Orchestra, directed by Antonio Pappano, won accolades, including Gramophone Magazine’s Editor’s Choice, BBC Magazine’s Recording of the Month. The Times then compared her to Martha Argerich for ‘this combination of assertive expression, dazzling clarity and mischief’. The Guardian wrote that ‘her playing has all the sustained force and perfectly weighted brilliance you could want, but has a glint in its eye’. This album earned her the distinction of Newcomer of the Year during the 2016 BBC Music Awards.

Born in Southern Italy to a musical family, Beatrice began studying the piano at the age of four and became the student of Benedetto Lupo at the Nino Rota Conservatory, receiving her degree early at the age of 16. Beatrice then studied at the Hochschule Hannover with Arie Vardi and continues to study at Santa Cecilia National Academy in Rome with Benedetto Lupo.
