#FLVfromhome : Being Modern : MoMA in Paris

Past exhibition - Wednesday 29 April 2020

6 p.m.

#FLVfromhome invites you to focus on the exhibition Being Modern : MoMA in Paris, presented from 11 october 2017 to 5 March 2018.

The Fondation Louis Vuitton welcomed in its building designed by Frank Gehry a selection of 200 works tracing the MoMA’s history of collecting.

A multidisciplinary selection of 200 works occupied the whole of the Fondation’s building. The works were drawn from all six of the MoMA’s curatorial departments, reflecting the history of the institution and the choices it made in building its collection. Organised jointly by the two institutions, the exhibition brought together works selected by the director and curator of the MoMA from paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photography, film, media art, performance art, architecture to design, which by their diversity, illustrate the multiple facets of the museum's collections. The exhibition was conceived in relation with the architecture and spaces of the building of the Fondation, offering a compelling historical narrative across its four floors.

Direction

Glenn Lowry (Director, The Museum of Modern Art) and Suzanne Pagé (Artistic Director, Fondation Louis Vuitton).

Curators

Quentin Bajac (The Joel and Anne Ehrenkranz Chief Curator of Photography, MoMA) assisted by Katerina Stathopoulou (Assistant Curator, MoMA), with Olivier Michelon (Curator, Fondation Louis Vuitton).

This Wednesday at 10 a.m. (Paris CET) Olivier Michelon, co-curator, will go live on Facebook to present the exhibition.
