Tribute to Yayoi Kusama

The Fondation pays tribute to the memory of Yayoi Kusama, a major Japanese contemporary art figure who passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 97.

Embodying the spirit of the 1960s, her innovative and unclassifiable body of work stood in stark contrast to the dominant aesthetic of the era, championing a profound freedom of form expressed across a plurality of mediums—painting, sculpture, video, installation, environment, and performance.

The Fondation was honored to showcase her work on several occasions: in 2019, with "Infinity Mirror Room," an iconic piece from the Collection, followed by the exhibition "Yayoi Kusama: Infinity - Selected Works from the Collection," presented in 2025 at Espace Louis Vuitton Osaka as part of the Fondation's Hors-les-murs programme.

A tribute to a visionary artist whose infinite universe continues to inspire the art world.
