Gehrard Richter - Abstrakt

For the Espace Louis Vuitton Osaka, the Fondation Louis Vuitton has specifically chosen 18 abstract pieces by Richter from the Collection, retracing more than 30 years of creation. Two of these artworks, 940-4 Abstraktes Bild and 941-7 Abstraktes Bild (2015), are presented for the first time. This exhibition thus pays tribute to one of the most prolific and iconic painters of our contemporary era.

Gilbert & George - Class war, militant, gateway

The Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo presents for the first time in Japan the iconic monumental triptych Class War, Militant, Gateway (1986) by Gilbert & George, within the framework of the ongoing “Hors-les-murs” programme.

Alberto Giacometti - Selected works from the Collection

The Espace Louis Vuitton Beijing presents eight emblematic sculptures by Giacometti, that belong to the Collection : Tête sur tige [Head on a rod] (1947), Trois hommes qui marchent [Three men walking] (1948), Homme qui chavire [Man who capsizes] (1950), Femme de Venise III [Woman of Venice III] (1956), Grande Femme II [Tall Woman II] (1960) and Têtes d’homme [Heads of a man] (Lotar I), (Lotar II), (Lotar III) [1964-65). These works, considered as key masterpieces of Giacometti’s œuvre, pay tribute to the virtuosity of the iconic Swiss artist.

Joan Mitchell/Carl André : Fragments of a Landscape

For its inauguration, the Espace Louis Vuitton Osaka is proud to present Fragments of a landscape, an exhibition gathering the works of two major American artists: Joan Mitchell, who began painting in the 1950s and is representative of post-war Abstract Expressionism, and Carl Andre, a sculptor who was an active member of the Minimalist movement in the early 1970s.

Alberto Giacometti
