Opening concerts of the Morozov exhibition

For the opening of the season, the Fondation hosts two exceptionnal concerts on the 20 and 21 September 2021. In conjunction with the "Morozov Collection. Icons of Modern Art" exhibition, the prestigious Mariinsky Orchestra of Saint-Petersbourg, under the direction of Valery Gergiev, will take the stage of the Auditorium.
With the “The Morozov Collection. Icons of Modern Art” exhibition, Fondation Louis Vuitton offers visitors a panorama of more than 200 masterpieces of French and Russian modern art in their first appearance outside of Russia. Such an event calls for a musical prelude worthy of the occasion. Indeed, it requires the likes of the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra of Saint-Petersburg to rise to the occasion for two exceptional concerts. Its conductor, the charismatic Valery Gergiev, is joined by three outstanding soloists: Daniel Lozakovich, the talented young violinist whom he mentored; Alexandre Kantorow, the rising French piano star who won the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition of Moscow in 2019; and the flamboyant pianist Yuja Wang, acclaimed for her performances on the world’s greatest stages.

For the first opening concert, Valery Gergiev invites Yuja Wang to the stage. Critical superlatives and audience ovations have followed Yuja Wang’s dazzling career. The Beijing-born pianist, celebrated for her charismatic artistry and captivating stage presence, will be the soloist of this concert, along with the Mariinsky Orchestra.
This concert will be broadwast live and on replay on medici.tv, Radio Classique and the website of the Fondation, as well as on Mezzo.

For the second opening concert of the exhibition, Valery Gergiev invites two young artists : Daniel Lozakovich and Alexandre Kantorow. Prodigiously precocious vilolinist, the swedish Daniel Lozakovich signed with the Deutsch Grammophon label when he was only 15 years old. By his side, Alexandre Kantorow, the first French pianist to win the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition. They will both perform alongside the Mariinsky Orchestra.
