Abd Al Malik, POETRY SLAMMING THE WORLD
- Date
- 21 May 2020 – 6pm

As part of the "Art/Afrique, le nouvel atelier” exhibition, the Fondation Louis Vuitton had invited Alain Mabanckou in June 2017 to put together an original programme of African poetry and literature to explore the diversity of verbal expression.
On this occasion, Abd Al Malik slams and raps about his discovery of the work and character of Albert Camus; he tells the story of the encounter of a young man with African roots with the famous Nobel Prize in Literature winner who was born in Africa.
Rapper, poet, author and filmmaker, Abd Al Malik is from Strasbourg. After founding the rap group NAP in 1988, his first solo albums met with critical acclaim. He has notably been rewarded on several occasions at the French music award show "Victoires de la Musique”. The writings of Albert Camus, which he discovered as a teenager, have profoundly influenced him, as such, he has dedicated a book and two shows to the French author.
