That Thomas Adès seizes the work of Janáček is obvious: as a composer, Adès has developed a language emancipated from dogmas and schools, like his Czech elder, author of an unclassifiable work, whose modernity has no European equivalent. As a pianist Thomas Adès, whose work is traversed by references to the past, pays homage to Janáček, allowing the discovery of a musician still too little known.
