Sandy Rower, Alexander Calder’s grandson and president of the Calder Foundation, New York, presents six major works by the artist.

He offers some insights into his work and what makes his sculptures so unique, exploring their forms, balance and movement.

From April 15 to August 16, 2026, the Fondation will celebrate the centenary of Alexander Calder’s (1898-1976) arrival in France in 1926 and fifty years since his death with a retrospective that explores all facets of his oeuvre.
