FLV Lab #3

Inspired by the escape-game trend, this FLV Lab introduces four live games that combine Frank Gehry’s architecture with imaginary worlds. An exciting blend of creativity, amusing roleplay and digital tools.

Each year, the FLV Lab invites students pursuing an Applied Arts master’s degree (DSAA) in graphic design and multimedia narration at the Lycée Jacques Prévert in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, to design and build prototypes of digital projects for or about the Frank Gehry building. Several digital-mediation projects by innovative companies are presented during the FLV Lab, as well.

Archi' Gehry

It is the year 2006: Frank Gehry must present his work on the future “Fondation Louis Vuitton”… but he has lost his sketchbook! Visitors form a team and, with the help of virtual reality and physical puzzles and riddles, must reconstruct his presentation.

“Where the Slaves Live,” an organic work by Adrian Villar Rojas exhibited on the West Terrace, has gone crazy and is threatening to smother the Fondation with vegetation!

In your botanist-explorer outfit and using an augmented reality application, you need to help Pistil, the game’s mascot, keep the botanical proliferation under control.

A gust of wind has made Fonfon, the Fondation Louis Vuitton ghost, lose his memory. Find Fonfon’s memories in a series of fun augmented-reality mini games, without bringing down Fonfon’s mood.

DISASTER IN THE SKIES

The year is 1913 and people are getting ready to see the official opening of the Fondation, that incredible flying museum invented by the great Frank Gehry. A building that can take flight to bring culture to every corner of the world. As the opening screening begins, there is a violent explosion – someone is trying to sabotage the event! Can you thwart the cunning traps laid by the mysterious stranger? An augmented-reality live game combining roleplay and puzzles.

The FLV Lab is not only an idea laboratory, it is a way for the public to connect with innovative companies, entities that are invited each year to present projects centred on cultural mediation and designed specifically for the occasion.

"A BAR AT THE FOLIES BERGÈRE" - VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCE BY IKO/ARTE FRANCE

Here, virtual reality works like a time machine, taking you back to the late 19th century and the Folies Bergère, the legendary Paris cabaret music hall. Suzon, the waitress with the enigmatic gaze in the middle of Edouard Manet’s painting, hides mysteries that will be revealed through a dizzying waltz between the protagonists’ perspectives.

WORKS OF ART IN AUGMENTED REALITY - BY TO LOOK

The works from the “The Collection of the Fondation” exhibition come to life on smartphones in this augmented reality application with exclusive videos created for the exhibition. The prototype was enthusiastically received by both the general public and the Fondation staff, leading to the technology being incorporated into the Fondation Louis Vuitton Application.
