FLV Lab 4 - Engagement
The fourth FLV Lab invites visitors to explore the Fondation on their own, with innovative projects that combine audio, puzzles, augmented-reality modelling and data visualisation.
Each year, the FLV Lab invites students pursuing an Applied Arts master’s degree (DSAA) in graphic design and multimedia narration at the Lycée Jacques Prévert in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, to design and build prototypes of digital projects for or about the Frank Gehry building. Several digital-mediation projects by innovative companies are presented during the FLV Lab, as well.
THE PROJECTS WITH STUDENT DESIGNERS
Otto, la mémoire perdue
The FLV’s artificial intelligence, Otto, has lost its memory! Using a Unity application available on smartphones, visitors play interactive mini games to help find this essential information. Each puzzle unlocks access to information about the building’s construction and retraces Frank Gehry’s creative process.
Les étudiants
Emeline Bruyère, Estelle Chapin, Agathe Léger, Benoit Queron
Réminiscences
Shhhh… the gallery walls can talk! In this immersive, augmented audio experience, the curators and artists share the secrets of previous exhibitions. The public is invited to scan targets with tablets to trigger audio commentary on this immersive installation, in a complete audio-visual experience.
Les étudiants
Salomé Bachy, Camille Fumarola, Chloé Huet, Anissia Tchoulanov
Vutilus
Vutilus invites visitors to explore the Fondation through a Japanese-style “stamp rally.” Each using their own booklet, visitors collect stamps inspired by Frank Gehry’s architectural research. At the end of the adventure, digital augmentation brings this booklet to life in 3D.

Data FLVx
The paths that visitors travel through the workshops are recorded in digital data. This installation then creates a graphic reconstruction of this data, in real time over the course of the evening, to form an evolving 3D model inspired by the Fondation’s sail-like architectural panels.
The model’s appearance can be manipulated in space and time using applications on iPad and hand movements interpreted by a Leap Motion sensor.

THE PROJECTS WITH INNOVATIVE COMPANIES
The FLV Lab is not only an idea laboratory, it is a way for the public to connect with innovative companies, entities that are invited each year to present projects centred on cultural mediation and designed specifically for the occasion.
ARCHAEOLOGISTS OF THE FUTURE - BY PRIZONERS
The players in this escape game are archaeologists of the future who have discovered the work “Where the Slaves Live” by Adrian Villar Rojas and believe it to represent a past civilisation. At the request of the Committee for the Study of Lost Civilisations, players must analyse the work to obtain data about our time and how the piece was created. The game takes place on a totem with three trapdoors that can be unlocked using a digital tablet to access clues.

OLFACTORY ARCHITECTURE - BY MYRISSI
This project presents a unique scent-related approach to the building, using fragrances identified by artificial intelligence based on an image of the Fondation.

SHORT SOUND TOURS - BY ODIHO
This guided tour of the Fondation’s terraces is narrated by the guides in the visitor’s ear. The system makes it possible to enjoy a live replay of the tour directly on visitors’ smartphones.
